For weeks, my two-year-old grandson Cole has been visiting me on Fridays, our waste collection day. This little guy lives to see a garbage truck, so he gets to see them twice a week: Monday in Milton, where he lives, and Friday in Stoney Creek at his grandma’s.
By far, the highlight of the day is the Stoney Creek garbage collection. The guy on the back of the truck always waves, does a little dance for him and the driver honks his horn. Cole insists on sitting outside in his little lawn chair and waits for their arrival.
Last Friday they stopped and lent him one of their white hardhats so I could snap some pictures.
I’d love to put in a good word for Ralph (the guy on the back of the truck #78) and Paul, the driver, who go out of their way to put a smile on a young boy’s face while performing their jobs for the city.
